We have been shooting with some great new film gear lately. Three axis gimbals for silky smooth motion control. Vintage lenses with cine modifications for sexy organic filmic looks. Remote motorized focus and zoom gears. And with all the new tools, we’ve been very busy shooting comedy narrative films. Unfortunately all this means the blog posts have been on the back burner for too long.
I can’t promise any in depth gear reviews, but I do want to share a few resources for the new tools that are working out really well for us, and a few BTS stills for last weeks comedy film production.
BeSteady 3-axis Gimbal – Advanced camera stabilization from three silent direct drive brushless motors.
Duclos Lenses – “Cine Mod”, seamless focus gear, 80mm front with 77mm filter threads, and de-clicked aperture.
MicroRemote Focus System – We added smooth, accurate, repeatable remote focusing to our 3-axis gimbal. Amazing!
Now that I’m on a roll with sharing resources if you are ever in need of a beautiful natural light studio rental in San Francisco I can highly recommend Susan Burdick Studio. The studio and two window wall natural light are excellent and Susan is very accommodating and a joy to work with.[slideshow]
